Chef Alex!

Alex's third and final camp was called "So You Want to be a Chef". He was really looking forward to being able to learn how to cook new things. At age 10 he has aspirations of being a chef someday and going to culinary school. Going to this camp made him realize how much he does love to be in the kitchen cooking. I love that he and I have similar interests now that he is getting older!
One of the days at camp they did not cook, they toured the Franz bread factory and got to see how they make their bread, hamburger buns, hot dog buns, and cookies. After the tour they gave all the kids the coolest baker hat! He was not as impressed with it as we were but he still let us take his picture.
He did not teach me any of his new tricks or recipes as he was exhausted everyday after camp. He was a big help getting dinner on the table every night while he was here this summer. Robert, Jack and I are all pretty sad that he is no longer with us but are looking forward to seeing him again in Sept. The house has gotten pretty quiet, and the mornings are a little more stressful without Alex entering Jack.
This summer was really nice, instead of us doing a million fun different activities in a short period of time. We spend more time doing the everyday kind of things that make a family, a family. Since Alex was here for a much longer period of time, it was not like a vacation. We finally got to know what it was like to live together for the first time in a long time. We all got use to the daily routine of our family of four and it will not be the same as three.
